The Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser Is Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, we're starting the day off kicking and screaming; kicking off the Alexandria Arts Festival while Old Town is screaming for ice cream! With 1,000 beautiful ceramic bowls to choose from and heavenly artisan ice cream from ACKA Cocoa Bar in Del Ray, the corner of King and North Fairfax is sure to radiate a collective "mmmm" sound for two days. We challenge you to think of a yummier way to support The Art League ceramics program.

Woohoo! Sorry to break into your ice cream daydream, but we wanted to make sure you had the complete schedule. Here's a breakdown.

Weekend Schedule:
Our Market Square location will be at the corner of King and North Fairfax Streets.

September 10, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon: Community Sculpture and Creative Tees with Art League Instructor Steve Prince at Market Square.
Kids (and adults) are welcome to participate in making a community piece that culminates in an installation piece that will be put on display in the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Each participant creates a mixed media work on a randomly selected puzzle piece that will become part of a dynamic sculptura
l form. Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille will join in the fun!

Kids (and adults) will also have the opportunity to make custom, painted t-shirts to commemorate their day at the Alexandria Festival of the Arts!

September 10 & 11, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm: Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser at Market Square featuring 1,000 Bowls!
The Art League's popular Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser is back for TWO DAYS in 2011 and features 1,000 fabulous handmade bowls to choose from! For $15, select the bowl of your choice and enjoy local artisan ice cream by ACKC Cocoa Bar in Del Ray.

Our Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser benefits The Art League's Ceramics Program. Thank you to ACKC Cocoa Bar for generously donating ice cream & supplies; students, associates, and instructors of The Art League's ceramics program for donating the handmade bowls; and Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association for their support.

September 10, 2:00 – 4:00 pm: Continuation of the morning activity with Art League Instructor Steve Prince at Market Square.

September 10, 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm: Creative Painting and Mark Making with Art League Instructor Patrick Kirwin at "Arts Activated" in the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
Kids (and adults) experiment with patterns and textures using paint combs, squeegees, wobbly long-pole brushes and other bizarre, creative, and entertaining tools

September 11, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm: Creative Painting and Mark Making with Patrick Kirwin at Market Square.
