Alexandria Mentoring Partnership Needs Volunteer Mentors

As the school year approaches, the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership (nine professionally managed programs – all following recommended best-practice standards -
www.alexandriava.gov/mentoring) anticipates needing at least 100 new mentors!

Studies indicate that mentored kids:

· feel better about themselves and the world around them

· have fewer conflicts and get along better with family members and peers
· are 60% more likely to graduate from high school

You can help to decrease crime, substance abuse, poor school performance, teen pregnancy, and gang affiliation.

Please consider finding some time (once a week) to spend with a child. Whether you would like to help with homework/reading, play a sport, enjoy a hobby, talk and listen, or all of the above - we have a program for you!

Find out more – join us for The Mentor Experience on Thursday, August 18, 6:30 - 8:30 pm at The Lyceum, 201 South Washington Street.
