2011 Virginia Farmers' Market Photo Contest

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) is hosting its 2nd annual photo contest to highlight the 2011 Virginia farmers’ market summer season and Virginia Farmers’ Market Week.  Virginia farmers’ markets are beautiful, showcasing an array of interesting colors, shapes, patterns, people, signage and more.  Take a picture and capture your favorite scene at a Virginia farmers’ market for an opportunity to win a Virginia Grown/Virginia Finest Prize Package, valued at $100.  All photos must feature Virginia farmers’ market scenes and products.  Virginia Farmers’ Market Week is August 7-13, 2011. 
The photo contest runs from July 1 to August 17, 2011. 
Four winners will be announced.  
      • One for entries from children up to age 12.
      • One for youth ages 13 – 18.
      • One for entries from adults ages 19 and up.
      • PLUS a Special prize will be awarded to the Virginia farmers’ market with the most entries
The winners will be judged by a panel of photography experts from all eligible photo entries received by VDACS. No purchase necessary to win. One entry per person.
E-mail your photo along with the entry and release form to vagrown@vdacs.virginia.gov or mail them to Virginia Grown Photo Contest, VDACS, P.O. Box 1163, Richmond VA 23218. The winners will be announced no later than Friday, August 26, 2011.  Prize must be claimed by November 22, 2011.  Find complete details and rules below.

Governor Robert McDonnell has officially recognized August 7 – 13, 2011 as Farmers’ Market Week in Virginia. Virginia Farmers’ Markets are the heart of the community and have a positive impact on our economy, health and environment.
