Today, the nation's capital will be flooded with hundreds of concerned citizens who want to save the arts! Americans for the Arts is sponsoring its 24th annual National Arts Advocacy Day. The event is partnered with Ovation TV, the official arts and culture channel, and will feature appearances by Kerry Washington, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwin and CEO of AFTA Robert Lynch.
Staff and activists are calling on the public to come on down to the House of Representatives to join in the festivities! If you can't make the trip, there are plenty of other ways to show your support. Follow the progress on Twitter, join the Actions Arts Fund or just give your representative a call. The AFTA stresses the importance of the public's voice in order to stop devastating budget cuts from hurting American arts programs.
