Help the Alexandria City Public Schools:

Alexandria City Public Schools are working hard to re-open as soon as possible (Tuesday they hope) and need volunteer help today and tomorrow.
Even though City employees have performed in nothing short of a heroic manner these past nine days, with the snow emergency we are having, many students will find it almost impossibly difficult to go to school without volunteer help.

More than half of those who attend school use bus transportation and many of the school bus stops need to be "dug out" to be useable. Everyone else walks and some sidewalks, especially those near schools, need to be "dug out" as well.

I know that many of you cannot even consider helping because of the demands of your business, but I hope that some of you might be able to lend and hour or two to help today (between 10 a.m. and Noon) and tomorrow morning to help walk students to school. If you are able to help, please contact a school principal, the schools below especially need help:

Patrick Henry Elementary School (4643 Taney Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304; Tel: 703-461-4170 | Fax: 703-823-3350 Principal: Coleen Mann, Ed.D)

William Ramsay Elementary School (5700 Sanger Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22311; Tel: 703-824-6950 | Fax: 703-379-7824 Principal: Kathy Taylor).

Let me know if you have questions or need assistance...and send this to as may people as you can!!
